Serena has been working as a stylist for the last 20 years. After her initial cosmetology training, she studied at the Graham Webb Academy in Arlington, Virginia, and took every Masters class the Aveda Institute offered in a satellite location in Boston.
The first salon she worked in was called Bubbles, it was located in Tyson's Corner, a mall right off the Beltway in Washington, D.C. D.C. serves as home to over 260 foreign embassies, so her clientele was literally from all over the world. Working with all the different hair types and head shapes was a priceless education that she uses on each guest who sits on her chair.
Since beginning her career as a stylist, she's been raising four strong daughters, worked as a freelance makeup artist for Stila in Chicago, has been on The Today Show twice, appeared in a Martina McBride music video, lived in six different states, published a book about grace, travelled as an international public speaker telling people that their mistakes don't define them, earned a Bachelors of Science in Psychology, read the Prescription for Nutritional Healing reference manual, is currently learning about Ayurveda: the art of using food as medicine, practices yoga with the help of YouTube channels, and brews kombucha. For their 10th wedding anniversary, her husband, Justin, fulfilled her lifelong dream by taking her to see Aerosmith in concert.
She recently learned that her white Boxers, Nigel and Oscar, are a great way to distress brand new wood floors.
